Our isolated ranch is surrounded by coyote, bobcat, raccoon, badger, fox and the occasional mountain lion. We also have a host of airborne hunters, including an enormous Great Horned Owl who was taking out a very large duck every few nights until we were able to put a stop to it. We needed a versatile predator control system which would be effective against a variety of predators and be able to protect birds to goats. We found the solution in the Anatolian Shepherd, an ancient breed from Turkey. These magnificent creatures have lived with their flocks under the most rigorous of conditions for thousands of years and are one of the oldest and most natural methods of predator control around. Since our Anatolians have been on guard, we've not lost a goat or a duckling to a predator.
